The illegal car bites are something that, historically, gives the police a headache, since there is no control whatsoever for this type of practice. However, the Oscar y Juan Gálvez racetrack, located in Villa Riachuelo in the City of Buenos Aires, has received hundreds of fans and competitors for years to provide them with all the safety measures so that no type of accident happens, These are the legal bites.
Quarter-mile races are originally from the United States, but have been in the country for more than four decades. This type of modality consists of a journey of 402 meters in a straight line where two pilots compete with highly prepared vehicles. The vast majority of competitors are owners of auto parts shops or workshops.

The cars get to be worth what a department leaves, and in a run of a few meters you can break a piece whose replacement costs more than 80,000 pesos. The speed they lift is between 230 and 270 kilometers per hour, and the runners assure that their brain mass is moving.
The bites at the racetrack are organized every week, specifically on Fridays from eight at night until five in the morning. It is a different environment from road tourism that is a bit more familiar, and although children are seen with their parents, the vast majority are men passionate about irons. Women have their space to run the quarter mile, but it is only once a month.

The Gálvez is divided into two tracks on Friday nights. In the one above the quarter mile is carried out, but in the lower one, the bites are run with standard cars, that is, those that are not highly prepared like the others. These types of races are the ones that would take place in the streets of the City if it were not that they were provided with this place to carry them out. Although every Friday more than 300 vehicles attend the racetrack, illegal bites continue to take place on the streets, but they decreased considerably.
Extreme picadors give up what they don’t have, but skipping races is not an option for them. Some were left without work due to the pandemic and put on a greengrocer and even made chinstraps, but the cars are not sold, passion is not for sale.
