London police are investigating several parties held during quarantine in Downing Street, the office and official residence of British Prime Minister Boris Johnson, it was announced on Tuesday.
Metropolitan Police Commissioner Cressida Dick revealed that an investigation was under way in an appearance before the London Assembly. Scotland Yard is investigating “a series of events” in Downing Street, Dick said.
The government of Prime Minister Boris Johnson has been criticized for allegedly holding social events during the months in which the country was in quarantine for COVID-19.

In the most recent allegation, ITV News reported that Johnson attended a birthday party at his Downing Street office, and later he received friends in his apartment of the upper floor in June 2020.
His office denied this, noting that “in accordance with the rules at the time, the Prime Minister received a small group of relatives in the open air that afternoon.”
the accusations have outraged many in Britain who spent months without being able to meet with friends and family in 2020 and 2021 to curb the spread of COVID-19.
A high-ranking official, Sue Gray, was investigating the case. His report, expected this week, would prove decisive for Johnson.
