Taylor Swift, one of the most convening figures in music on social networks, received strong criticism from Damon Albarn. The Blur and Gorillaz frontman criticized her for “not writing her own songs.” She fired back at him on Twitter. But to calm the waters an unexpected guest arrived: Gabriel Boric, president-elect of Chile, came out with a unusual defense of the American.
“Here in Chile, you have a great group of followers who know that you write your own songs from the heart. Don’t take seriously guys who need to swear or lie to get attention.. Hugs from the south Taylor,” Boric wrote to Swift.
The intervention -a cross that can only be conceived in the Twitter micro-universe- caught the attention of thousands of users. There was someone who baptized him “mi swiftie favorito”, in reference to Taylor’s fandom.

Another asked him for a drastic first step as president: change Chile’s anthem and adopt “All Too Well”, which accumulates tens of millions of views on YouTube and streaming platforms.
But there were also those who criticized him for a message that they considered too superficial for their official investiture.
“President, I like your authenticity but I beg you to quickly soak up the level of investiture you hold…the time of the cool kid is over…please!” one user replied.

The controversy had begun with an interview that Albarn gave to Los Angeles Times. There he made a review of world pop exponents: he distributed praise for Billie Eilish, but, consulted for his opinion on Swift, he made a strong objection. “She doesn’t write her own songs,” said the 53-year-old singer.
Swift (32) crossed a tweet from the Los Angeles media and responded, quoting Albarn. “I was a huge fan of yours until I saw this. I write ALL my own songs. Your raunchy statements are completely untrue and VERY hurtful. You don’t have to like my songs, but it’s really fucked up trying to discredit my compositions“, replied the multi-award winning artist from the United States.

And she limited, ironically, to the delight of her fans: “PS I wrote this tweet myself, in case you were wondering.”
Exposed, Albarn tried to reconcile positions and he blamed the journalist who interviewed him.

“I totally agree with you. I had a conversation about songwriting which sadly came down to clickbait. I apologize unreservedly and unconditionally. The last thing I would want to do is discredit your songwriting. I hope you understand. Damon,” he wrote, with an almost old-fashioned formalism.
