Peugeot Partner Rapid: will it arrive in Argentina?

Peugeot does not have in folder the release of the new PartnerRapid in Argentina, confirmed direct sources of the French brand before the consultation of TN Autos. The brand new model has just made its presentation in Brazil, where it is already manufactured.

Although the automaker did not explain the reasons why this model will not arrive in the country (at least in the short term), there is one that seems quite clear: so as not to compete with the historic national Partnera “workhorse” for Peugeot Argentina.

If launched in the local market, Partner Rapid could end up stealing clients from the Argentine Partner. And that would not be good for the automaker, since it is one of the models that it produces in the El Palomar industrial complex. The Peugeot 208 and the Citroën Berlingo are also manufactured there.

That’s the way things are,The old Peugeot Partner will normally continue to be sold in the Argentine market, where this year, it added stability control to adapt to the new safety regulations and continue at dealerships as 0 km.

The Partner was one of the few models that until last year were sold as new in the local market without stability control. And that is why there were strong rumors about its discontinuation, but Peugeot has them as one of its “workhorses” and did not want to lose it. That is why it updated its equipment and now sells it with a higher level of security.

Currently, two types of Partner are manufactured and marketed in the country: Patagonian, the one that points to the transfer of passengers; Y Comfortwith van-style bodywork.

Depending on the version, it has a 115-horsepower 1.6-liter gasoline engine or a 92-horsepower 1.6-liter diesel engine, in all cases with a five-speed manual gearbox.

How is the new Peugeot Partner Rapid

The Partner Rapid is a Fiat Fiorino with the Peugeot logo. Where does this come from? From Stellantis, the automotive group to which both Peugeot and Fiat have long belonged. They are now “sister” brands that lend each other technologies, platforms and engines.

The engine of the Partner Rapid is the well-known 1.4-liter gasoline engine with 85 horsepower and the box, a five-speed manual.

The cargo compartment offers a total of 3.3 cubic meters of volume suitable for loading up to 650 kilos. It comes with a cargo protector, lighting and 180-degree opening doors.

Equipment includes stability and traction control, emergency braking alert (automatically triggers an alert for other drivers), hill start assist and fog lights with integrated DRLs.

It also comes with air conditioning, power steering, driver’s seat and height-adjustable steering wheel, One Touch system window lifters, sump protector, alarm and knife-type key.
