The discs are the pieces that cushion the friction between the vertebrae of the spine. If a tear occurs inside the disc, it may press on a nerve and cause pain. However, sometimes the patient does not notice pain, but the problem is there and it can get worse.
In addition to the normal wear and tear that comes with age, other factors can increase the chance of a herniated disc. The main causes are:

Disc herniation in the lumbar spine
Between 30 and 40 percent of the healthy population will have a diagnosis of disc herniation throughout their lives, although 90 percent of them do not undergo surgery thanks to the rehabilitation techniques and the development of therapies pain control.

“Many times it is thought that doing yoga is reaching extreme postures. But in reality it is a process where you look for the equilibrium. It makes people who are very rigid more flexible, but it tones up very lax people”, he details and adds that when the person has a herniated disc, everything is done in mid ranges: with less time in each posture and not taking the posture to the extreme.
