Former Argentine champion Sergio “Maravilla” Martínez made his debut at the legendary Luna Park with a quick knockout victory in the first round against weak Colombian rival Jhon Teherán in a fight framed in the middle class.
The Quilmeño boxer based in Madrid got rid of his adversary after a minute, 27 seconds before the first free kick with his left, applied against the ropes after measuring it with a right jab.

Martínez, with a professional record of 57 wins (32 before the limit), three falls and two non-decision fights, appeared for the first time at the mythical Buenos Aires venue, accompanied by the presence of other champions such as Juan Martín “Latigo” Coggi, Marcos “Chino” Maidana and Marcela “La Tigresa” Acuña.

In his brief performance, Maravilla Martínez winked twice at the public as a sign of absolute control of the actions. The definition came in his first decisive advance against a fragile adversary.
“I thank you all for coming, thank you infinitely for having collected this warmth. I am very powerful! I tell you one thing: do not make you believe that 48 years is a lot. I didn’t finish, I didn’t stop until the world title, ”said the Argentine in his message to an audience eager for more boxing.
The former middleweight champion of the World Boxing Council (WBC) returned to fight in the country almost ten years after his last performance, a memorable night at the Vélez Sarsfield stadium, in full swing, when he beat British Martin Murray on points for that crown.

“The World Cup chance will come at some point. I know that it will be like that, due to a matter of decantation, due to inertia, due to position, due to effectiveness in my career, due to history, due to record. There are many reasons. I am there for a world title”, he confided to Télam before the presentation before the Colombian.
Tehran, 38, made his third appearance in the country and lost again by knockout in the previous two.
The Colombian boxer (18-2-0, 15 KOs.) had been defeated by the local César Barrionuevo in the search for the vacant WBC Latin welterweight title in Catamarca in 2014 and in his last performance he lost to Juan Manuel Taborda from Cordoba for the title WBO middleweight Latino in Villa María, on September 23, 2022.
