The desperate request of Lucas Escalante’s sister: “We urgently want a meeting with Berni and Kicillof”

Three months have passed since the crime against Lautaro Morello and the disappearance of his friend Lucas Escalante in Florencio Varela. Nothing was ever heard of the latter and his family desperately demands a meeting with Sergio Berni and Axel Kicillof.

The request of the meeting with the Minister of Security and the Buenos Aires governor is for the two main defendants to be changed jail. “They are in danger of flight and are super protected. The young woman also assured that the jail where Cristian (son of an important Buenos Aires Police commissioner) and Maximiliano Centurión -his cousin- are being held is only a few blocks from their homes. In this sense, she remarked that the Escalante family had a meeting with Aníbal Fernández last week.

“He promised us something that he has not yet fulfilled,” he remarked, referring to the fact that the Minister of National Security told them that he was going to make a meeting with Berni and Kicillof possible, something that has not happened so far.

Along the same lines, he requested: “We want Kicillof to attend to us; Berni still hasn’t shown his face. Nobody gives us ball. We already had patience, we can’t keep waiting. On top of having to put up with the fact that the prisoners are like in a hotel. All those who are in that prison are friends of Commissioner Centurion.”

“Cristian asked that they change his pavilion because he says that he does not want to see the other prisoners so as not to get soaked in them. He is not worried about his procedural situation. He asked for books because he knows that at some point he is going to leave. He is very protected by his father, ”he emphasized.

Romina explained that so far there has not been much progress in the case, but searches and even some raids have been carried out. “The investigation is progressing,” she noted.

For his part, he stressed that they continue to be in frequent contact with the family of Lautaro Morello, who was found half burned a week after his disappearance.

“We talked with Lautaro’s family and we are going to mobilize together. Now that time has passed, we have more contact, although they already have another ending. The immense pain is the same for both families,” she stated.

This Friday both the Morello and the Escalantes will hold a march as part of the National Day of Remembrance for Truth and Justice. “We are not going to let him go unpunished, we are not going to allow them to tell us that he does not appear. Life stopped on December 9, 2022. For us who do not have Lucas there is no relief, there is no consolation, ”he closed.

This was the disappearance of Lucas Escalante and Lautaro Morello

Lucas Escalante was last seen on Friday, December 9 of last year in the city of Bosques, Florencio Varela’s district, when he went to look for his friend Lautaro Morello. Both went out in a BMW to celebrate the triumph of the Argentine National Team against the Netherlands for the semifinal of the Qatar 2022 World Cup. That car appeared the next day completely on fire.

Morello’s semi-charred body was found around 9:30 p.m. on December 15, next to the Buen Ayre highway under construction, in Guernica, President Perón’s party. While nothing is known about Escalante yet and his whereabouts are a great mystery.

A few days later, Cristian Centurión, son of a major Buenos Aires police commissioner, and his cousin Maximiliano, were arrested as suspects in the incident. Both were linked to the case after the analysis of security cameras and thanks to the cell phone antenna that located them in the area where Lautaro was found.

In the recording of a camera from a Florencio Varela service station, Cristian is observed around 00:30 on December 10 loading gasoline in a white drum that is suspected to have been used to incinerate Lucas’s car and the body. from Lautaro.

In addition, it was established that the BMW was parked at the door of the house the night that Lucas and Lautaro disappeared. Even the medical analysis carried out on Maximiliano, accused of “homicide qualified by cruelty and treachery”, showed that he had burned his eyelashes, which would indicate that he would have been in direct contact with fire.

According to the investigators, the two defendants arrested in the case offered free gasoline vouchers as a method to attract the victims. This was evidenced in a WhatsApp audio that Lucas sent to one of his friends.

“I am leaving for Varela. I came home a while ago. She was going to stay at home, but there’s a guy who gives me gasoline, but I have to go look for her to Los Pinos, a little further away. But hey, the free gasoline works and well, I’m going, ”she said in the message that he sent minutes before going to Centurión.
