Dibu Martínez, a figure from Argentina and decisive during the penalty shootout against Les Bleus, had expressed regret for his celebration some time ago. “It was a joke with my teammates. He had already done it in the Copa América, and everyone told me, even Leo: ‘don’t dare to do it again’. I did it for them, nothing more. It lasted a second and that’s it,” said the athlete in an interview with France Football, which the outlet decided to republish.
