Among so many stories that could be turned into a great movie, now we must add a great and miraculous rescue of a crew that was left floating in a lifeboat in the Pacific Ocean for 10 hours. In the middle of their planned three-week voyage, a giant whale crossed their path and sank their sailboat.
Rick Rodríguez from Tavernier decided to take the trip with his friends on his Raindancer sailboat. The trip was planned for three weeks from the Galapagos Islands to French Polynesia, but on day 13 of his adventure a whale changed his plans.

Rick was waiting for his veggie pizza to be ready to eat when he heard a loud noise: he discovered that the rear half of the boat had lifted up and to starboard. He even tells that one of his friends jumped out on impulse.
The crew was rescued after the big scare
All the crew members saw the whale hit the sailboat from a different angle, and luckily, they all live to tell about it. This is thanks to the fact that they were able to stay alive floating and managed to be rescued quickly.
Everyone on board was quick to recognize that the ship was sinking. Rodríguez made an emergency call to report her location, while the rest of the crew collected the food they needed to survive. If he had not acted in that way, the probability of staying alive would have decreased.

“I feel very lucky and grateful that they rescued us so quickly,” Rodríguez told The Washington Post. “I saw a huge whale on the port stern side with its side fin in the air,” added Alana Litz.
Rick Rodríguez fired his sailboat on Instagram and added that he is still in love with the sea: “I had a temporary distrust in the ocean. But I quickly realize that I am still the same person. I often think about the whale that probably lost its life, but I hope it’s okay. I’m not sure what my next move will be. But my attraction to the sea has not changed.”
