An unusual episode occurred last Friday in the Italian city of Venice. A man threw himself from a three-story building into the Grand Canal in Venice and hit the water face-first. Everything was filmed by the security cameras in the area and by the cell phones of his accomplices, who recorded it from below.
The curious thing about the situation is that the images were released by the mayor of Venice himself, Luigi Brugnaro, with the intention of identifying the protagonist of the video and his accomplice in order to denounce them for carrying out acts of vandalism against public roads.

“This ‘guy’ should be given a certificate of stupidity and a lot of kicking. We are trying to identify him, denounce him, him and the buddy below him who made the stupid video for social networks, ”Brugnaro wrote angrily, next to the video.
The video, which lasts less than a minute, shows the half-naked individual – wearing black underpants – and standing on the ledge of a three-story building. Meanwhile, two other people recorded it on the edge of the Grand Canal in Venice.
In the background you can hear how other people -both locals and tourists- ask him not to jump from the roof, perhaps thinking that it was a suicide attempt and not a video to upload to social networks. However, the young man did not accommodate the request and jumped anyway.
With a strong impulse, the protagonist fell chest into the water and a huge roar was heard in the Italian city. Seconds later, the individual emerges unharmed from inside the channel, swims to shore, and climbs a ladder. There his partner – also a cameraman – was waiting for him with a towel so he could dry off.
After jumping, the young man walked out and his accomplice handed her a towel. (Photo: video capture).
After posting the video on his personal Twitter account, Brugnaro added two more tweets. In one of them, he opined that it is necessary to give “more real powers to mayors” so that they can “fight against vandalism.”
Below that comment, he added a video of an interview he later gave to a local outlet. There he reported that the Venice police are working to determine how the man managed to enter the residential building – it would be a private property – and reach the highest part of it.
He also urged that anyone who has seen the video provide information that can help identify the protagonist, whom he referred to as a tourist. In turn, he added that he does not want them to “like the video” when the young man uploads it to his social networks.

“They do these stupid things on social media for the likes. He risked his life on that jump, but he’s also a criminal. They don’t understand the danger they create in this city. What if a boat was passing? We will use the full weight of the law to have him prosecuted, ”he completed according to CNN.
