A judicial official from Morón pursued a criminal who had stolen the car from a relative of his and faced shots in the Envión neighborhood of the Buenos Aires town of Haedo. The thief suffered at least three bullet wounds and is hospitalized at risk of life.
The episode occurred on Friday morning when a relative of Gustavo Giacchino, Adjunct General Defender of the Morón Judicial Department, told him that two criminals had stolen his car with an armed hand. In his story, the person warned him that the cell phone had been left inside the Peugeot 2008.

Giacchino tracked down his relative’s phone number and, two hours later, they went to look for the vehicle in the Envión de Haedo neighborhood, a few meters from the headquarters of the National Technological University (UTN), located between París and Directorio streets.
When they arrived at the place, they found the vehicle parked, but with no people inside. The judicial officer contacted the Haedo section, where the theft complaint had been made, and with the insurer to notify them of the discovery of the car.
It was during that call that a suspect approached with the keys to the Peugeot 2008 and the victim recognized him as one of the two criminals who had stolen the vehicle a few hours before. They both decided to face him.
According to witness statements, the alleged thief tried to pull out a weapon he was carrying on his waist and Giacchino quickly fired back. In a matter of seconds there was a brutal shooting that ended with the criminal seriously injured.
The thief got into the car, tried to flee and crashed two blocks away. Despite this, he got out of the car and tried to escape on foot, but was detained by members of the Haedo police station who arrived at the scene alerted by the prior call from the judicial officer.
The offender had to be rushed to a hospital where he is in serious condition, at risk of life. According to the first medical report, he suffered at least three bullet wounds: one to the head and two to the chest.

The Morón Prosecutor’s Office No. 7, headed by Matías Rapazzo and Hugo Ravisino, is investigating the case and so far they have not ordered any restrictive measures for the judicial officer, since they consider that his actions were in legitimate defense. It was also reported that Giacchino had the clearance to have the weapon he used in the shooting.
