After overcoming a serious heart problem that had him on the brink of death, today Rosario journalist Julián Bricco returned to reporting on football after a three-month recovery that kept him away from the fields and his passion.
The 55-year-old journalist underwent delicate heart surgery in July that lasted 10 hours. Tonight his unmistakable voice narrates again the actions of a First National match: “Today I make my debut again,” he told TN with a joy that is impossible to hide.
Bricco is in charge of the broadcast of the match between Ferro and Tristán Suárez, on the TyC Sports screen. And it will not be just another game in his extensive career in which he has stood out for being a reference in the stories of promotion and the Argentine Cup.

“It is surprising that before three months, with the operation I had, I can be in a broadcast booth again. I am calm and with the same desire as a kid who puts on his team’s shirt for the first time. Today I make my debut again and I am very happy,” said Bricco, traveling from Rosario to Buenos Aires hours before his return to TV.
“I spent 10 hours in an operating room, they fixed my valve, they fixed the dilation of my aorta, they put a stent in me. It was a very complex operation and Dr. Luis Diodato saved my life,” he told about the delicate situation he went through.

What the doctor said to Julián Bricco before returning to report football
“The doctor told me that if I had been a commentator I could come back sooner, but since I am a narrator, and he told me that we narrators are totally crazy, I had to wait a little longer. And the truth is that he is right: when we enter a cabin we are as if alienated and the heart feels it,” he said as an anecdote.
About how he prepared for a special night in Caballito, he said: “There are no precautions, I’m not afraid or anything like that. After three quiet months, I’m fine now. I can’t wait to be in a cabin again. “I’m leading a normal life without doing nonsense, I’m even going to the gym after ten years.”
In addition to saying that his current cardiologist is the brother of goalkeeper Leandro Chichizola, the man from Rosario recalled his beginnings in the emblematic sports program Fútbol de Primera: “The first time was in 1995 on the Independiente field, and what I feel today is the same what I felt that time.”
“The Ferro court is very nice to return to, although I don’t have problems on any court. They treat me well everywhere. But Ferro is a very comfortable stadium to talk about and it will surely be a special night”; he added she.
The message from journalist Julián Bricco after the operation
He is Luis Diodato, he is not just another human being, he is the doctor who saved my life. He is the one who was with his team for almost 10 hours in an operating room operating on my heart. He is the one who, with his hands, managed to reconstruct my aorta and save my valve. He is the one who saves lives every day at the ICR in Rosario. He is the one who returned a father to his daughters, a husband to his wife, a friend to his friends. He is the one who allows me today to smile again, to hug again, to kiss again, to feel again, to cry again, to look again, to breathe again, to live again. Eternally thank you, Luis!
Thanks to everyone who makes up the ICR Rosario, doctors, nurses (Mario, thank you for putting me in TyC Sports in intensive care 🤣), nurses, thanks to Doc Guada for simply holding my hand, (it was great medicine), to Doc Lumidla (that thumbs up and the knowing smile on the first visit to therapy gave me years of life), thanks to the kinesiologists who managed to get me walking two days after such an intervention, thanks to Ana at the reception for always telling you that everything is going to be okay.
Thanks to you, Natalia Bussola (from the time of the Physical Education teachers who did not hear your voice) for your unique voice and laughter, you have no idea how nice it was to hear it again when they took me off the respirator.
Eternally Thank you ♥️♥️♥️
