The fight between the governors and the Casa Rosada for the entry of funds is far from over. While the Omnibus Law is being discussed – which awaits the private vote next Tuesday -, the provincial leaders insist on sharing a part of the COUNTRY tax and the national Executive conditions the discussion on what happens in Congress with the so-called Bases law.
The main reason for the fight over the COUNTRY tax is largely explained in the numbers, since the collection of this tax went from $311,708 million in December of last year to $469,199 million in January. These figures represent an increase of 50.5% in one month.

And even the percentage increase reaches 1,252.6% if the interannual measurement between January 2024 and the previous year is taken into account, always according to the collection numbers compiled by the AFIP.
The collecting entity explained that the evolution of the tax during the first month of the year is explained by “the expansion of the tax base with the income of the payment applied to certain imports”, in addition to the rise in the exchange rate and the increase in rates. both of the payment on account and of the imports of goods and freight with respect to those in force in the previous month.
