The video of a doctor on duty visibly overwhelmed with patients at the Argerich hospital in the Buenos Aires neighborhood of La Boca went viral by exposing a problem: the large number of Buenos Aires residents who attend the City's health centers.
The tense discussion occurred last Wednesday night when the surgeon on duty at the Buenos Aires hospital had to leave escorted by security personnel to contain the people who demanded to be treated as soon as possible. Everything was recorded by the cell phone of the relatives of one of the patients.

The awkward moment lasted for three minutes. The doctor tried to address the complaints of at least six patients with different problems, while explaining to them that the medical staff could not cope with the situation.
“We are eight doctors and, what you don't see, is that the ambulances enter from behind. Five people were admitted to intubate. “We've all been running for three hours,” was one of the first arguments the surgeon put forward in response to the claims. The injured transported had been victims of a multiple collision and were in serious condition.
The patients who were in the waiting room expressed particular pain, general discomfort or low blood pressure and one had even asked for an order to do an examination. In the midst of the shouting, the doctor exclaimed: “I treat everyone I can, but I'm overwhelmed.”
It was at that exact moment that the specialist had a peculiar reaction to the people's demand and asked them what town they came from. This action reflected the flood of Buenos Aires patients who go to Buenos Aires hospitals every day.

“Where do you come from?” the doctor asked repeatedly. The responses were all from towns in the province of Buenos Aires: La Plata, Florencio Varela, Aldo Bonzi (La Matanza), Avellaneda, Alpargatas and Zapiola.
After the responses of all the patients, the professional replied: “None of them come from La Boca. I have a resource capacity for people from the Federal Capital, especially from the La Boca neighborhood. Now, I serve everyone I can serve and I am overwhelmed.”
His answer did not generate a good reaction from the people, who began to question him and boo him. Given the general discomfort, he added: “I am explaining why I am overworked. And it's because everyone comes here.”
Far from being satisfied with the doctor's response, the patients continued to demand medical attention and assured that no one had informed them that they were overwhelmed in the capacity of the guard due to the emergency that had been attended to for three hours.

“Wait for me because there isn't another one and they haven't invented the bunk bed yet. I ask you for a little while and I will attend to you,” the doctor responded at the same time that he left accompanied by three security employees from the Argerich Hospital.
One of the women who was waiting asked: “So, four more hours?” “Or five…” the surgeon returned as he closed the door. His response caused a barrage of shouts including threats: You are audacious! Bold! Then let's burn everything here!
Given the viralization of the images that were taken without his consent, the doctor – whose name is kept confidential – is receiving legal advice through the Association of Municipal Doctors of the City of Buenos Aires (AMM).
“This directly affects the doctor-patient relationship with more defensive professionals. The medical act is private, with intimacy and trust. The interference through filming and its dissemination on social networks as happened in Argerich only ends up generating distrust,” said the union representative.
