The increase in public transport fares does not stop. The Ministry of Transportation confirmed that starting today, Tuesday, February 6, the bus fare will rise to $270. It was also clarified that with the social rate, the ticket will cost $121.50.
In the case of trains, the minimum fare will be $130, while the social fare will cost $58.50. This is an increase of around 250%.

Starting April 1, a new differential rate system will be implemented for registered SUBE cards. Until that time, all passengers will pay the corresponding fare. After that date, people who do not have a registered card will pay $429.30 for the bus ticket and $260 for the train trip.
It should be noted that the Ministry of Transportation confirmed that once this period has been exceeded, the option to register the card to access the cheapest rates will still be available.

Despite the protection presented by the mayor of Esteban Echeverría, Fernando Gray, the Ministry of Transportation made official the update of urban transportation rates in the AMBA. Gray had argued that the public hearing procedure was not followed, but the measure was implemented anyway.

The new fare schedule is now in effect and represents a considerable increase in the ticket price. With the new values, the minimum bus ticket will go from $76.92 to $270. The next fare (from three to six kilometers, the most used by AMBA passengers) will increase from $85.96 to $300.78, and the next one will reach $323.95 from the current $92.29. The two most expensive will range from $347 to $370.

Starting this month, in addition to the monthly adjustment based on the evolution of inflation, a gradual subsidy reduction will be implemented that will affect the final value of the different means of passenger transportation in the AMBA.
“The Ministry of Transportation of the Nation complied with the legal requirements and put into effect the new tariff schedule for public transportation in the Metropolitan Area to reduce the resources that the State allocates in subsidies, taking care of vulnerable sectors through social attributes. and reducing the inequalities that exist between the AMBA and the interior of the country,” they concluded.
