The National Meteorological Service (SMN) reported a red alert for extreme temperatures for Buenos Aires and 11 other provinces this Thursday. In addition, an orange alert is in effect for Santa Fe and Santiago del Estero and a yellow alert for part of Córdoba, Mendoza and Chaco.

The areas affected by extreme temperatures are: north of Buenos Aires; south and northeast of Santa Fe; center, northeast and west of Córdoba; downtown St. Louis; center and east of Mendoza; Between rivers; Currents; center and south of Misiones; east and northwest of Chaco; Formosa; and this one from Salta. For these sectors, maximum temperatures are expected to be between 34°C and 39°C.
The orange alert for the heat wave will affect a large part of Santa Fe and Santiago del Estero, while the yellow alert applies to the northwest of Mendoza; part of Córdoba; Chaco and east of Santiago del Estero.

What are the recommendations to take into account in a red alert due to extreme temperatures?
Increase water consumption without waiting to be thirsty to maintain adequate hydration; Do not expose yourself to the sun excessively, not even in the middle of the day (between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m.); Pay attention to babies, boys, girls and people older;Avoid caffeinated, alcoholic or very sugary drinks;Avoid very large meals;Eat vegetables and fruits;Reduce physical activity;Wear light, loose-fitting, light-colored clothing; hat, dark glasses; Stay in ventilated or conditioned spaces.
