The fate of the bill “Bases and starting points for the freedom of Argentines” (Omnibus Law) began to travel new paths in Congress after its failure in Congress.
On the one hand, the president of the Chamber, Martín Menem, met with the Minister of the Interior, Guillermo Francos. On the other hand, the La Libertad Avanza bloc, led by Oscar Zago, made a first analysis of the fall of the project and its return to commission.
“There are no reproaches to the Executive (Power), nor to the president of the Chamber, Martín Menem,” assured the Milei deputies who will wait the next few hours to define the steps to follow.

The political decision would be made next week with the president's return to the country after his trip to Israel, Italy and the Vatican. But the deputies are already working on the division into several projects of the law that failed legislatively. That is a concrete proposal that Congress will make to the Casa Rosada.

Along with Zago, deputies Carlos Zapata, Pablo Ansaloni, Lisandro Almirón, Lourdes Arrieta and Gustavo Arancibia Rodríguez, among others, participated in the meeting that took place in the White Hall of Congress.
The course of the Omnibus Law
The initiative returned to zero and will have to seek consensus again. The libertarians, with their small number of 38 national deputies, achieved general sanction by 144 legislators against 109 votes against. Product of the agreements obtained by the Minister of the Interior Guillermo Francos and the head of the body Martín Menem with the dialogue blocks of the Pro, We Make Federal Change, UCR and Federal Innovation chaired by Pamela Calletti from Salta. Blocks, for the most part, with terminals in the governors, the central architects of parliamentary discussions and the direct target of President Javier Milei's criticism as responsible for the failure in the Deputies.

Several legislators understand the need to agree on basic points on the fiscal level with the governors. Discuss joint instruments that project and guarantee fresh funds to the provinces.

The fiscal chapter of the Bases law contemplated tax laundering and the opening of a new moratorium. Percentages of this collection could be distributed in different proportions between the Nation and the provinces.
In addition, there is the Government's intention to reverse the changes in the income tax, a debate proposed by the Economy, while the provincial leaders prefer to share the Country tax on credit or debit transactions or purchases of foreign currency. For now, the answer to that point is negative.
