Gabriel Milito wants to be president of Independiente. One of the club's idols, who recently moved to Argentinos Juniors as technical director, has decided to devote himself to football politics.
“I was able to check this information with him, I spoke this morning; “He told me that he made the decision,” said ESPN journalist Damián Iribarren on the air of the F90 program, and added that Milito revealed to him verbatim: “At this moment I want to direct for a little while longer, but the decision has been made and in the future I want to be president of Independiente.”

The truth is that the Marshal intends to continue being a coach for a while longer. The next elections for Rojo are scheduled for 2026, when Néstor Grindetti's term ends. It is unknown if Milito will seek to participate in that vote.

The news is surprising, mainly because the historic central defender refused to return to the club as coach before Carlos Tevez took over.
If Milito's dream finally came true, an unusual peculiarity could occur: this year his brother Diego, idol of the rival institution, could also be elected president of Racing. Maybe in two years they will face each other again.
