In January, 116,135 transfers were made in automotive registries throughout the country, reported the Chamber of Automotive Commerce (CCA) in its usual monthly report. This marks a decrease of 12.73 percent compared to the same month in 2023, when 133,073 units were transferred.
Compared to December 2023 sales (122,024), January 2024 suffered a drop of 4.83 percent. In January sales fell in all provinces. The one that suffered the greatest decrease was La Rioja: 32.84 percent. The one that fell the least was Catamarca: 0.59 percent.

The market did not validate some prices
“The used vehicle continues to be a refuge of value in our economy, in the face of generalized sales declines in other areas. The sector, although it has decreased in its sales numbers during January compared to the same month last year, did not do so with the unusual magnitude observed in other sectors,” mentioned Alejandro Lamas, secretary of the Automotive Chamber of Commerce.
“Due to the lack of prices for the same 0km product (due to modification of the tax base for the calculation of internal taxes), and in the face of generalized inflation in the economy, these types of products have been able to find a price that the market was willing to pay” , said the manager.
